Interim AfrEA Excecutive Director,
Mr Augustin Ngendakuriyo is a Burundian National. Academically, he holds a Masters in Economics from the National University of Benin. From 2002 to 2005, he served as Financial and Administrative Director at a public company in Burundi. Mr Augustin has a good understanding of corporate and no corporate financial management, accounting and controlling, private and public sectors, communication and fundraising strategies. From 2006 to 2008, he was serving as Executive Secretary for Burundi Enterprise Network, a USAID-funded non-governmental organization through International Alert. During the same period, he was appointed as Regional Representative of an International Consulting Company named Channel Research Belgium until 2013. Through the latter position, he gained his international experience and has worked in various African countries. This has enabled him to perform his work in culturally diverse environments.
Mr Augustin has more than 10 years of experience in conducting evaluations for numerous short, medium and long-term projects funded by various development actors including the United Nations (UN Agencies), bilateral and multilateral cooperations and non-governmental international organizations. He has a strong knowledge of consulting methodologies in evaluation such as stakeholder analysis, context analysis, assessment of project outcomes and impact evaluation.
Owing to his extensive experience, he has conducted socio-economic studies relating to socio-economic projects on the reintegration of refugees and returnees. In 2014, he conducted a comparative analysis study of public policies on socio-economic integration of youth especially in the Great Lakes Region (Burundi, DRC and Rwanda). In addition, he has provided technical support for organizational and institutional development and conducted several trainings in planning, monitoring, and evaluation for projects or programs implemented in fragile situation.
Since 2014, he was working as an independent evaluation consultant until March 2016, the month in which has was appointed to act as Executive Director of African Evaluation Association (AfrEA).
Operations & Membership Manager, Gifty Volimkarime
In August 2013, Gifty Volimkarime joined AfrEA as Office Manager now re-designated Operations and Membership Manger. Ms Volimkarime is responsible for the day-day administration of the office, membership enrollment, data management, website administration, report writing, events and conference logistics coordination. Gifty also supports in fundraising through seeking out donors and proposal writing.
She works with Mr. Braimah, the Executive Director at the Secretariat in Manet Cottage, Accra- Ghana. Ms Volimkarime brought to AfrEA a range of skills from working with various multilateral and national organizations, including the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), World Bank Projects, Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ghana Health Service (GHS).
As an experienced administrator who has engaged in the management and administration of development projects in Ghana and in some African countries, Ms Volimkarime strives to make AfrEA a results-driven organization with passion to satisfy the needs of its clientele. Over the past two years, Gifty has focused on capacity building for AfrEA members and ensuring the application of African-rooted evaluation practices to policy implementation across the continent.
Ms Volimkarime holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA) qualification concentrating in General Management and a Bachelor in Business Management Studies from the University of Cape Coast in Ghana. She holds various certificates from Illinois State University (USA), Harvard Graduate School of Education (USA), Management Institution of Canada (Canada) and The World Bank Training Institution (USA).
Ms Volimkarime has worked as a senior executive officer (Ghana Health Service), administrative assistant (WFP Ghana), programme assistant (UNICEF), and project administrator (Micro-Medium Term Enterprise project -Ministry Trade and Industry).
Ms Volimkarime has attended and participated in numerous international meetings and conferences over the years and has developed skills in presentation, fundraising, strategic planning, advocacy, networking and programme management, monitoring and evaluation. She has extensive experience in operational and financial management, having managed projects in Ghana.
