AfrEA: Developing Evaluation Capacity to advance Africa

With a discerning focus on accomplishing goals in a set timeframe, AfrEA has identified four strategic directions to serve as a "road map” for priority actions regarded as key in guiding its strategic growth from 2010 to 2015. A break-down of specific goals inline with each priority area has also been identified with the objective of efficient streamlining of tasks and responsibilities, guaranteeing effective build- up of the bigger picture. 

AfrEA’s eight task teams are responsible in meeting set strategic goals, serving as an integral arm working with the executive committee with to plan and organize tasks.  


Strategic Goal 1: Grow and strengthen AfrEA as an organization

AfrEA has identified the four pivotal means to attain this goal:

Mean #1:  Expanding membership

Mean #2: Maintaining Efficiency

Mean #3: Focusing on conferences to strengthen AfrEA’s position as a leading organization

Mean #4: Supporting national associations & networks on evaluation


Strategic Goal 2: Build capacity for evaluators in Africa

Mean #1:  Supporting Evaluators’ training & capacity strengthening

Mean #2:  Promoting & upholding evaluation standards & ethics   

Strategic goal 3: Advocating to increase the demand for and use of quality evaluations

Mean #1: Promoting the use of evaluations for learning & accountability

Mean #2: Promoting African Expertise in evaluation to popularise the culture of African evaluation  


Strategic goal 4: Generating, storing & sharing knowledge on development in Africa

Mean #1: Collaborating for the development of research agendas

Mean #2: Maintain information & communication knowledge resources
